We're very lucky to live near Parramatta River, Parramatta Lake and a host of smaller creeks and rivers dotted across the electorate.
But for too long our rivers and creeks have been treated like industrial waste drains, ending up polluted, dirty and littered with shopping trolleys rather than being safe spaces for families, kids and school groups to visit.
A Shorten Labor Government will restore urban rivers to their natural beauty – with a $200 million investment to ensure all Australians can benefit from the natural beauty of our waterways.
Local environmental action groups will be able to apply for small grants, benefiting our urban environment, creating jobs and also re-engaging, educating and mobilising local communities to act on local environmental protection.
So, where should be begin? I would like to know more about the community's experience of our urban waterways. Help me by taking the short survey below.
