Telehealth

Many local GPs are offering consultations by phone or video call for patients who need or prefer to attend their appointments at home. Extended telehealth consultations (20 minutes+) are once again available on Medicare. Call your local GP to see if telehealth services are available.

OzHarvest Granville Hamper Hub, 3-5 Bridge Street, Granville (opposite Granville Station)

  • Open every Thursday (except public holidays) 11:00am – 2:00pm until at least the end of September 2021
  • Food relief hampers available (pantry items and fresh produce)
  • Hampers are limited - one hamper per household
  • No ID required but masks are mandatory and you need to check in

Drop in service for young people available 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Still open with new COVID measures for referrals to health services; showers, a laundry and a kitchen with a foodbank available. Call 8860 2500.

Food parcels and food vouchers available by appointment – pickup 10:00am-12:00pm Mondays and Thursdays. Only available for people living in the local area. Call 9638 7955.

Other financial help

Mortgage deferrals: Australian Banking Association member banks are offering home loan deferrals on a month-by-month basis. More info here.

 

No interest Loan Scheme (NILS): Provides no interest loans for up to $1500 for low income families and individuals. Loans are for essentials like fridges, education essentials and medical procedures – not rent, bills or debts. Repayments are set at an affordable amount over 12 to 18 months. If you have a health care card/pension card or earn less than $45,000 a year after tax you should consider applying. Contact either Hope Connect in Telopea on 9683 7955 or The Hills Community Aid and Information Service on 9639 8620. More info here.

 

Step Up Loan: Provides low interest loans for people on low incomes of between $800 and $3,000. You have three years to pay it back. These loads are for white goods, education related expenses or medical expenses. Find out more here.

 

Moneysmart: Provides information for support services available during the coronavirus crisis. Find more information here.

 

Financial counselling: Financial counselling is a free and confidential service offered by community organisations, community legal centres and some government agencies. They will help you negotiate with debt collectors or electricity or phone companies threatening to disconnect you and other problems. Groceries - order online

Woolworths offers Priority Assistance for the elderly, people with disability and those in mandatory isolation. You can register for Priority Assistance here.

 

You can also shop online with Coles and IGA abut they do not appear to offer an equivalent service.

Grocery shopping and chemist pick-ups

Community Wheels is still offering grocery shopping services and chemist pick ups – call 8868 1400.

 

Passengers on Community Wheels services must now wear a mask unless they have a medical certificate exempting them. Services will run at 50% capacity in vehicles to comply with social distancing rules. Outings have been cancelled for at least 3 weeks from 28 June 2021.
